First Learn to spot the symptoms that you are going out of favor



Symptom-1:Boss starts avoiding you and finds excuses to cancel meetings with you.The same boss
would spend huge time even after office hours in tossing ideas with you and seeking expert opinion.If you were in his most trusted confidant list , you would be spending a lot of time in meetings which he attends and you were told to be there. The more you are seen with him people will perceive that you are the most trusted person of the boss and you felt elated. Don't allow this to get into your head.Remember that you are only being used which is fine.Alternatively when you are not wanted he will start sidelining you .Even meeting invite for legitimate attendance will go away.That is the first sign that you are being taken out of trusted list.Signal is that you are not wanted in meetings,


Symptom-2:When you are in his most wanted list you will be made star speaker or presenter.Your boss wants you to even  draft his speech,presentation etc.Ghost writer that are  and everyone knows about it. Once you are not wanted or fell out of favor you are either placed at bottom of the speaker list especially in employee meetings and at last minute for lack of time, your presentation will be cancelled or curtailed .

Symptom-3:When in favored list you will be wanted in every meeting that your boss attends When
out of demand your meeting invites to important meetings that you were invitee in past stops coming Boss’s Secretary tells that she forgot to invite you. Suddenly the mailing list drops your id

Symptom-4: There would have been time when even international travels in business class were encouraged by boss but when you are sidelined  your international trips were  subject of approval.
You are asked questions about your domestic  travel and hotel expenses and had to have prior approvals  by accounts department and the bills don’t get paid

Symptom-5: Earlier the boss always talked of you as the only guy who was totally aligned  and suddenly he remembers that  you are not with him on many issues .Your performance reviews rating drops and  he sends you 8 things he wanted  you to accomplish yesterday .The items were the most impossible things according to your boss and he just gave it to you as no one could do it in the last few months and  you were grappling with them.When you placed them under trivial list.but they become highly important and urgent  items in quadrant 1  now for the boss .Your review meetings with boss get acrimonious as he finds out things you did not accomplish than what you did earlier

Symptom-6: You start getting nasty emails from the boss on trivial issues and auto reminder  from the boss’s secretary are now rampant and you start spending more time to trace those missing emails. How come he knows to remind you on those mails that you deleted ?

The power point presentations that were brilliant in the past now seem to have lots of issues.Especially now he starts correcting the font size,, spellings in your slide deck and even questions the design being not in  company approved format

Symptom-7:Boss starts tantrum in executive meeting about things going wrong. He does not say directly but you know who he is targeting .You start getting the stick for things you never used to in the past .For example Sales being low, no new business, margins not in target

Symptom-8: The boss who used to call you ten times in a day even after office hours stops calls

suddenly and he does not return your calls .

Symptom-9: You start getting reminders from Boss’s secretary for incomplete items from previous meetings you thought those were concluded items but suddenly your pending issues list grows

Symptom-10: Boss starts adding toughest goals to your Goals list and wants immediate answer over mails.He suddenly discovered the need for phone reviews and more frequent reviews twice a week
