Creating Shared Vision-whose responsibility -What drives and sustains it

Creating value-based culture in organization

Who creates values and a value based culture in organizations? Mostly the founder.Yet the baton has to pass from the founder to successor at some point in time and the founder’s influence on the value creation remains enormous and can't be diluted easily . However, if the successor turns out to be from outside ,dilution of values may happen and that will prove to be detrimental to the futurity of the organization.
How do the leaders usually view or deal with value erosion problems? Just in terms of deviation from the “set norm” or the changing needs of the norms themselves. The challenge is to test differing perceptions: Sometimes people ask What if “values or norm” itself is the source of the problem? Restoration of “values " is simple maintenance routine or massive improvement .As someone said,"When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail.” When change is brought in here are few reactions.Manager’s view - Everything is an Employee and cultural problem here Employees’ view-Everything is a management problem here CEO’s view - Everything is a capability problem.Clients’ view -Everything is a lack of commitment to the delivery problem. If one looks at the lack of resources -. Resources are universal constraints - when will any organization ever have enough? The Question is not about lack of resources but how are existing resources being used effectively and efficiently? The valuable question is to ask " How resourceful are we?When stuck with change progress few leaders approach with Knee-jerk “this way and only way”- no other way is possible.Through change management architecting the future requires two things: 1-Knowing clearly what the expected state is wanted based on capability building. 2-Clear understanding of current state ,limitations , capabilities and what is happening presently. So think of creating shared vision not as "I say you do." but as sustained value and culture creating effort .
